Ga Young Kim
Born in 1999, South Korea
Lives and works in Chicago, IL
Ga Young Kim is an artist born in South Korea and currently based in Chicago, IL. After earning a dual Bachelor of Mass Communication in Sculpture and Bachelor of Fine Arts from Gachon University in South Korea in 2023, she began focusing on sculpture and installation. She is continuing her studies at the School of Art Institute of Chicago where she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture. She asks incisive questions about the imperfection of memory surrounding human psychology and belief. The unique world she constructs appears through her diverse sculptural and installation works. Her work has been exhibited at The PLAS Art Show, Korea; The School of Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago; and Siragusa Gallery, Chicago. In 2022, she was awarded the Gachon Art Award Contest.
