Missing combines my grandmother’s real-life experiences with the narrative of a missing child, presented in the format of a faux documentary. The title itself, Missing, carries a dual meaning—representing not only a vanished child but also an era fading from memory.

Set against the backdrop of the Korean War, the storyline revolves around a fictional character who has gone missing during that tumultuous time. It draws inspiration from my grandmother’s poignant journey, having lived through the actual war and losing her younger brother. In the middle of the video, the deliberate introduction of other images and sounds, akin to noise, serves to visually represent my grandmother’s recollection process. These auditory and visual elements include the sound of gravel crunching underfoot, car noises, and scenes evoking memories of the old house.
