Memory Island

Memory Island
2019
Wire, acrylic plate, 150 x 135 x 121 cm

Memories that seem more vivid than reality itself serve not just to recall a single scene but to summon the entire duration, and I’ve coined them “Memory Island.”

When left unrecalled, memories contract and compress. However, every time one retrieves these memory fragments for reminiscence, there is a palpable sense of expansion, as if the memories come to life with vibrancy. The shadows and colors cast by the light along the aerial rails evoke the determination to recall these fragments, reminiscent of the will to remember. This artwork brings together fragments of memory depicting them as an island of memories. These fragments operate as the smallest units of recollection, concurrently acting as triggers for the entirety of memories.
